Randy Orton Week: Toy Rides for Wrestlers.

on September 7, 2010 at 6:00 am

Randy Orton week plugs along fiercely here at Botched Spot, as I watched The Legend Killer on RAW tonight fighting Wade Barrett. Did you know he’s facing John Cena next week? Even if you didn’t, you probably could have guessed considering WWE can’t go two weeks without them in a match.

But I’ve been thinking about toys. Back when I was a kid all the cool toys rode on things. G.I. Joes rode on tanks, Dino Riders rode on dinosaurs, Ninja Turtles rode on… junk that shot out pizza. Or slime. It didn’t always make sense, but they rode these deadly vehicles through anyone who got in their way. But not wrestlers. Sure, they had rings and title belts, but no cars or tanks or motorcycles! Even when there was a TV show called Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling where wrestlers rode in cars ripped off from Wacky Races there were never any toy cars for wrestlers. Not even after the videogame WWF Crush Hour!

So I started thinking, what if Mattel tried to change this non-vehicular rut by giving Orton something to ride around in?

Oh, and action figure Randy? Watch those turns.

The Return of Botched Spot and The Start of Randy Orton Week!

on September 6, 2010 at 6:00 am

Botched Spot is back! After a month long break I have returned. Thanks for all of the support and understanding while I’ve been gone, I hated to leave, but the time off was very useful for working on my thesis paper. I managed to write a pretty kickass draft (thanks to help from my sister) and now I’m ready for wrestling.

I’m celebrating my return with the start of “Randy Orton Week”! Why? No real reason, I just like the idea of Orton in a party hat. So thanks to everyone who returned, thanks to all the people who used the opportunity to catch up and read old comic strips, and I hope you all enjoy!

So… What about Gail Kim?

on September 3, 2010 at 2:51 pm

NXT Season 3 HAS to be a slap in the face for poor Gail Kim! While watching the pros and rookies get named for the third season of the show all I could think about was how depressed she must be! Kelly Kelly as a pro? Primo? The Bella twins? And I thought calling Zack Ryder a pro was pushing it! I understand the scripted nature of wrestling, but they’re really pushing my suspension of disbelief by telling me that the Bellas are going to be teaching anyone anything.

Overall I like the concept of an all-diva season, mostly because I’m curious about how they’re going to pull it off considering the divas on Raw and Smackdown already get so little time. I thought it was just going to be used as a format to build up Aloisia, but apparently Vickie Guerrero has just “fired” according to wwe.com, so who knows. Like most people, I hated the diva search segments that used to fill up Raw a few years back, but considering these rookies have a little more background and have a hour long show to fill, I’m interested to see what it’ll be like.

Speaking of NXT, Kaval winning Season 2 makes me feel like all is right in the world. I have to say I was surprised to see Michael McGillicutty make it so far. I think all of the pros’ complaints about Lucky Cannon apply to him as well. To me he was just kind of… there. There was none of the ruthless aggression he promised. I hope they still find a way to bring some of the other rookies back to the main shows (like Husky), although not all of them, and hopefully not in a recycled Nexus stable for Smackdown or anything. Ultimately I feel like NXT Season 2 had some good, a lot of bad, but was overall decently entertaining, which is more than I can saw for a lot of wrestling shows.

And as an update, Botched Spot is still on track to be back on schedule this upcoming Monday! Labor Day breaks be damned!
