Looking Back on my Predictions from 2011 for 2012!

on December 20, 2012 at 8:37 pm

And another year comes to an end! One of the great things about doing annual predictions like I do, is when they’re dead on I seem like I actually know what I’m talking about. The flip side though is when I’m wrong (and my last predictions sure weren’t right) it’s out there for the whole world to see. I posted three predictions; let’s see how they came out!

-First off, I predicted that the WWE would swoop in and take the rest of ROH’s roster, leaving only Kevin Kelly to be their champion (I don’t know why I didn’t draw streamers behind him in that panel). And, due to the low ratings from having CM Punk and Daniel Bryan as world champions they would all be stuck on NXT. Well it didn’t work out quite that way. Not only is most of the ROH roster still there, but several indy superstars recruited by the WWE in 2011 are now in major storylines. A swing and a miss!

-For my second prediction I said that the WWE’s Network would be cancelled because they realized that if their fans wouldn’t stick around for two hours of Raw, they won’t stick around for 24 hours of it. While the Network still seems a long ways away from launching, it hasn’t officially been cancelled. But my gravest mistake was thinking that the WWE would learn from the low ratings for the second hour of Raw. Instead, they added a third hour! Way off.

-And lastly, I predicted that TNA would plug holes in their roster by hiring more family members for storylines. This prediction was informed by the inclusion of Devon’s sons getting caught up with D’Angelo Dinero (where did that guy go?) and Garrett Bischoff tearing up the singles division. The only thing that comes close is Brooke being named the head of the Knockouts division (unless Aces and Eights reveals a baby adopted by Hulk Hogan as a member). Y’know, even though it’s only one family member, and she wasn’t exactly filling a needed position, I’m still giving myself a pass on this one. Yeah, I guess it’s mostly because I don’t want to be wrong on all three.

So there you go! Botched Spot predictions have never been anything to swear by, but they’re a tradition, and honestly, who else in January of 2011 would have predicted that Jeff Hardy was going to go to jail? Or would have predicted that “The Next Generation Hart Foundation” would fall flat before they even debuted? Okay, maybe lots of people.

Rival Angels Guest Strip!

on December 14, 2012 at 4:39 pm

Wrestling and webcomics. It’s such a natural fit, you’d think that someone would have done it before me… Well, you’re right! Alan Evans has been kicking ass over at Rival Angels since January of 2008, bringing hard hitting women’s wrestling to the comic page on a consistent basis. He just took a break for the first time since starting his comic and has been posting guest strips from other comic artists, including myself. Head on over to rivalangels.com to check out all the guest art, and of course, his awesome archive of wrestling action! Check out my guest page here!

My Return to FTW Podcast!

on September 26, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Last night I made my triumphant return to the FTW podcast! The FTW guys and I had a great discussion about the tag division, Ryback’s tease with CM Punk, the fading luster of Hell in a Cell, as well as many other wrestling topics. It also involved a little bit of interference by my dog and a brief heel turn on my part, but was a lot of fun. Be sure to check it out at ftwpodcast.com or watch it on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnT991Ws498&feature=youtube_gdata Special thanks to the Botched Spot fans in the live chat, I always appreciate the support!
