So… What about Gail Kim?
NXT Season 3 HAS to be a slap in the face for poor Gail Kim! While watching the pros and rookies get named for the third season of the show all I could think about was how depressed she must be! Kelly Kelly as a pro? Primo? The Bella twins? And I thought calling Zack Ryder a pro was pushing it! I understand the scripted nature of wrestling, but they’re really pushing my suspension of disbelief by telling me that the Bellas are going to be teaching anyone anything.
Overall I like the concept of an all-diva season, mostly because I’m curious about how they’re going to pull it off considering the divas on Raw and Smackdown already get so little time. I thought it was just going to be used as a format to build up Aloisia, but apparently Vickie Guerrero has just “fired” according to wwe.com, so who knows. Like most people, I hated the diva search segments that used to fill up Raw a few years back, but considering these rookies have a little more background and have a hour long show to fill, I’m interested to see what it’ll be like.
Speaking of NXT, Kaval winning Season 2 makes me feel like all is right in the world. I have to say I was surprised to see Michael McGillicutty make it so far. I think all of the pros’ complaints about Lucky Cannon apply to him as well. To me he was just kind of… there. There was none of the ruthless aggression he promised. I hope they still find a way to bring some of the other rookies back to the main shows (like Husky), although not all of them, and hopefully not in a recycled Nexus stable for Smackdown or anything. Ultimately I feel like NXT Season 2 had some good, a lot of bad, but was overall decently entertaining, which is more than I can saw for a lot of wrestling shows.
And as an update, Botched Spot is still on track to be back on schedule this upcoming Monday! Labor Day breaks be damned!
I thought the same thing when I saw the Bella Twins listed as pros. What are they supposed to teach? How to hang onto guest hosts?
It seems like the Aloisia/Isis the Amazon firing is indeed a work as she was talking about how she won’t be held back on Twitter and her and Beth Phoenix had a little banter.
I hope it’s a work because I think she’s the only real ratings draw that show will have. If they did pull her off the show because she’s too green, I guess it’s all for the best, but it’ll still be a big disappointment.
Word. It’s so damn true it’s sad. The only good thing is that Gail’s getting paid but it’s still a wast of talent.
I’m hoping Gail goes back to TNA at some point to save the Knockout’s division. Natalya too, for that matter. WWE’s Divas division seems like a lost cause at this point.
And I don’t hate Lucky or anything, but he just hasn’t jumped out at me yet. I’m going to try watching more FCW though, and if NXT Season 1 is anything to go by I’m sure we’ll be seeing the NXT Season 2 rookies again, so maybe I’ll gain a better appreciation for Lucky.
Lucky Cannon was my favorite, so I guess different things speak to people differently. A lot of people boosted as having great personality really just have the one: Dolph’s, and the Miz’s, Evolution-era Randy’s… I thought Lucky seemed like a great “good guy” while going about it in a different fashion than Cena.
Oh GOD, it’s true. It’s SO true.
If it means anything, I’m from Tampa, Florida and Gail’s been to the CVS I work at on more then one occasion. I spoke with her about all this recently and she said that we’ll just have to have faith and be patient like she is. What a trooper she is.
But she still did admit she’s 10x a better wrestler then Maryse. >:D
