I believe it was in one of Mick Foley’s books where he talked about pay per views being booked to fail, and I wonder if the same idea wasn’t in place for WWE’s new kayfabe shirts. Like the idea kept popping up at meetings but certain people didn’t like it so they just did a bare bones job of the t-shirt designs. That way when fans don’t buy the shirts because they’re boring, the WWE higher ups can say it’s really because there’s no money to be made in breaking kayfabe. I don’t know, maybe that’s too much of a conspiracy theory, but I can’t imagine why the people who come up with crazy ideas like wrestler lawn gnomes would suddenly be so generic with t-shirts that break kayfabe.
