Somehow, despite constantly reading wrestling and comic book news, I missed the story about CM Punk possibly writing a comic for Marvel at some point. While attending classes at SCAD a few years ago Jill Thompson (the artist he was tweeting with about doing a comic together and also the woman who designs Daniel Bryan’s ring gear) actually sat in on one of my classes. At the time I had no idea she was such a huge wrestling fan or I probably would have mentioned something to her about it. She was a really nice person though and was happy to talk with people about their work. If they did put a book out together, even if Punk sucked as a writer I know it would at least look good.

The first time I met Jill Thompson was at a Ring of Honor afterparty here in Chicago where she was hanging out with “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Never expected that, haha. She’s good at a karaoke.
Kudos on drawing Axel Alonso. Although whenever Marvel puts out comics featuring tits, they don’t sell … in spite of the number of idiots who keep telling them to put out more comics featuring women. And then don’t buy them.
This was funny, but if you REALLY wanted to make it seem like Punk wrote it, the Thing would call Mole Man gay and a woman and point out that he’s not even a real mole.
Jill IS an extraordinary woman whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing as well, so you know I had to go share this with her. She got a kick out of it. Keep up the awesome comic!
That’s great! Thanks for sharing it with her and letting me know!
THAT’S why I can’t buy Marvel comics anymore, and all hope of ever drawing/writing for them has faded. I do my own stuff now…for the characters and me. So how is Punk allowed to use the Thing’s famous line? Did he have to get permission from Marvel?
