Some friends and I were at a house show in the early 90′s at the UIC Pavillion. There was a decent crowd of fans there for a WCW show. Anyway, my friends and I got our whole section cheering for Greg “The Hammer” Valentine who had a match against Buff Bagwell. Then again, having seen Buff “wrestle” I guess anyone would cheer for his opponent, but I digress. What was awesome is that “The Hammer” and the ref played up to the crowd. Every time Buff got in an offensive move, our whole section would yell: “He pulled the tights!” or “The Hair, ref! He pulled his hair!”. The Hammer would point to our section and mimic the pulling of the tights to the ref who would go over to Bagwell and berate him for it. That was the most fun I’ve ever had at a wrestling event.

Best of all though came before the main event (HBK, HHH and Cena vs Orton, Edge and Umaga). DX were out in the ring doing their usual schtick and were interrupted by someone shouting “You screwed Bret!” at Shawn. Without missing a beat, HHH turned and just said “Of course he screwed Bret, he’s a wank!”, causing HBK to crack up for a good few minutes. Also during the match, me and my friend tried to get a “Cena Sucks” chant going (didn’t work as most of the crowd was kids there to see him), and instead, some kids behind us started a rival chant of “No he doesn’t! No he doesn’t!” which cracked us all up. A good night that was actually.
